Description

Z- Big Sky North Snowmobile Trail Construction on the Gallatin National Forest Project Location. The project is located in the Gallatin Mountain range south of Bozeman and Big Sky, MT and north of West Yellowstone, MT. The project is located within sections 9, 10, 11, 16, 21, and 28 of T9S, R4E. From Bozeman, follow Highway 191 west to Four Corners and south into the Gallatin Canyon toward Big Sky. Approximately 16 miles south of Big Sky, and ¼ mile south of the Taylor Fork road #134,turn right into the Sage Creek Trailhead and parking area, and beginning of the project. Scope of Contract. Construct approximately 6 miles of Snowmobile trail. Approximately 1.3 miles of new construction and approximately 1 mile of light clearing along the remaining trail corridor. Expect to encounter surface and subsurface rock during excavation. Work generally includes new trail construction, post and sign installation, installation of drainage and erosional control features, construction of switchbacks, light clearing on existing roads, and other miscellaneous trail work. The trail will be built to a 12' wide, groomed snowmobile standard using mechanized equipment. Magnitude of Construction: $25,000 - $100,000 No formal site visit is planned.
