Description

This project includes renovation of approximately 10,400 SF and constructs approximately, 7,600 SF of Critical Care Medical Services with a Step Down unit and Pulmonary at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC; areas that include functional support space and state of the art technology and design. During construction, the existing ICU and Pulmonary Services will remain in service by implementing phased construction. Phased construction allows intensive care to continue to operate in existing spaces and new spaces, while vacated areas are renovated and then reoccupied. Portions of the adjacent Cardio Pulmonary Department will be renovated as necessary in order to provide adequate swing space during construction phases. Construction includes some foundation and structural remediation in specific locations. There are full plans and specifications. There are six bid items, the base bid and five (5) bid items as described below. A.BID ITEM 1, BASE BID: The Contractor shall provide all necessary tools, labor, materials, equipment, permits, license, and supervision for "Expand/Repair Intensive Care Unit, Step Down Unit, and Pulmonary," Project Number 534-325, located at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC, in accordance with the drawings and specifications. Work includes, but is not limited to, general demolition, general construction, plumbing, structural, HVAC, and electrical. Completion within 540 days. B.BID ITEM 2, ALTERNATE NO.1: Perform all work as described in base bid except delete exhaust duct and exhaust fan at penthouse roof serving existing range in mental health clinic and substitute fluorescent light fixtures in lieu of base bid led fixtures as indicated on alternate lighting fixture schedule C.BID ITEM 3, ALTERNATE NO. 2: Perform all work as described in bid item #2 except delete all toilet accessories, signage, patient room window black-out shades and contractor-furnished copper touch surfaces. D. BID ITEM 4, ALTERNATE NO. 3: Perform all work as described in bid item #3 except delete all work related to patient lifts and delete nurse station casework. Stub up electrical conduit for connection to owner-furnished nurse station casework. E. BID ITEM 5, ALTERNATE NO. 4: Perform all work as described in bid item #4 except delete nurse call system, patient monitoring cameras, and relocation of tele-ICU systems as indicated on drawings. F.BID ITEM 6, ALTERNATE NO. 5: Perform all work as described in bid item #5 except delete all patient headwall units. Terminate incoming utilities ready for connection to owner-furnished headwall units. This project will result in a firm fixed-price construction contract. The duration of the contract will be for a period of approximately eighteen months (18). The contract magnitude is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Consideration is limited to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses, and the solicitation will be issued as a Sealed Bid. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 236220, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction and the size standard is $36.5 Million. This notice is issued subject to the availability of funds clause 52-232-18, and is not a request for proposal. The solicitation will be issued on the federal business opportunities website on or around July 24, 2015.
