White blood cells are needed and collected for research purposes. Purpose and Objectives: Cytapheresis is an automated method/process of cell removal and collection that involves a continuous flow cell separation by centrifugation and the withdrawal of a particular blood component. This allows blood components not collected to be continuously returned to the donor. This study is designed to provide white blood cells obtained by Cytapheresis to National Institute on Aging (NIA) researchers for other in-vitro research studies. The NIA owns 3 Cobe Spectra machines for performance of these procedures of protocols Cytapheresis of Volunteer donors and the BLSA Cytapheresis: •To provide a mechanism to collect and process blood components from paid healthy donors and BLSA participants for distribution to National Institute on Aging Intramural Research Program investigators for in vitro research use. •To address specific research questions such as: *Study of cellular function of DNA, RNA, and other blood components as well as intact cells. *Study changes in cell number and behavior of peripheral blood cells obtained from healthy donors. *In-vitro immunological assessments of cellular activation and differentiation using hematopoietic stem cells, granulocytes, monocytes, T- lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes, Natural Killer (NK) cells and platelets. *Study changes in the immune system that occurs with age, gene expression, protein expression, oxidative stress and oxidative stress damage to different macromolecules and cell structures.
