- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Patuxent River MD, intends to award a sole sourced contract to Cobham Mission Systems located in Davenport, Iowa, for the acquisition of Low Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Drogues. Cobham Mission Systems is also the developer and manufacturer of the Low FOD Drogues which have been tested and approved for integration on U.S. Navy and Marine Corps configured aircraft The Low FOD Drogues are a non-developmental item which is currently used on NATO and or Allied Nation Air Forces' Aerial Refueling Systems (ARS) that is carried centerline on their aircraft, similar to the U.S. Navy's Fleet of F/A-18E/F aircraft. The Low FOD Drogues attach to the Aerial Refueling Store (ARS), which provide carrier based mission and recovery tanking to U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aircraft with probe equipped receivers. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this effort is solely within the discretion of the Government. THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITVE PROPOSALS AND NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE.. However, interested parties may submit a capability statement. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only, does not constitute a solicitation for bid or proposals, and should not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government reserves the right to process this procurement as a sole source based on the responses received. The closing date for this synopsis is 7 April 2015 at 03:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time.
