- Description
- Sources Sought Notice for a Spectrometer Magnet Subcontractor shall provide all labor, material and equipment necessary to design, construct and deliver a dipole electromagnet to be used as an analyzer magnet for a variable energy electron linear accelerator. The energy range to be analyzed is 250 kiloelectron volts (250 keV) - 3 megaelectron volts (3 MeV). This will include the magnet and the vacuum chamber which is to connect to 2 3/4" inches ConFlat (CF) on both sides. The minimum gap within the vacuum is to be 1.25 inches. The deflection angle of the electrons is to be 90 degrees from the main beam line, through two 45 degree segments. The region between the two segments must leave sufficient space for the addition of slits to improve the energy resolution in the future. The slits shall be included as an option as a separate line item. A decision to purchase the slits will be independent from the decision to purchase the analyzer magnet. A zero degree port must also be provided for an un-deflected electron beam. The maximum vertical size is 11" above and 11" below beam center. The maximum horizontal footprint is estimated to be 36 inches x 36 inches. The estimated maximum weight is 150 pounds. This will be negotiated with the Subcontractor during the design phase. The basic design shall be approved by National Security Technologies (Contractor). Contractor shall require telephone support during installation of the Spectrometer Magnet. Responders to this notice shall submit a statement of their experience in similar projects and indicate the number of years of experience their firm has with this work. Provide a rough order of magnitude estimate with your response.
