Description
Statement of Work The Cochran Fellowship Program's Eastern Europe and Eurasia Region is requesting the design and delivery of a training program for (5) Fellows from Georgia: (1) head of food safety division, agriculture and food department, Ministry of Agriculture, (1) deputy head, food and feed inspection department, National Food Agency and (3) chief specialists-inspectors of National Food Agency. An interpreter will accompany the five Fellows. The program should be designed to help fellows better understand U.S. food safety system and meat and poultry inspection. The Government of Georgia is implementing a modern food safety system in the national food industry. The Fellows are interested in the food safety regulations, meat and poultry processing, food contamination, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), national and state regulations for meat and poultry industry, export/import control and international standards. Topics should include: structure and management of HACCP system in meat and poultry industry, implementation of HACCP, HACCP certification, food disease surveillance, risk assessment, recall procedures, safety alerts and education for consumers. This training program will introduce the food safety specialists and inspectors to the U.S. food safety management and inspection, HACCP principles, regulations, implementation and inspection in meat and poultry companies. The program objective is to assist with the development of a viable food safety strategy which will allow the Fellows to improve the food safety standards and implement HACCP in meat and poultry companies. The goal of this activity is to assist Georgia develop a modern reliable food safety system in an effort to encourage public safety and international trade.
