Description
If you perform the services listed below, please send me your name, DUNS number, email address and a contact number. You may email this to jrobinson@fs.fed.us. Scope of Work: Field data will be collected on 99 bird census points. Data entry and cleanup for approximately 246 bird census points, and necesary support for NRIS/FACTS database on the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests in Arkansas in accordance with provisions of the specifications. Data entry will be performed on a Forest Service database on a Forest Service provided computer. The contractor will be required to get clearance through the Forest Service to access the Government system. The work will be performed with the following counties of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests: Baxter, Benton, Conway, Crawford, Franklin, Izard, Johnson, Lee, Logan, Madison, Marion, Newton, Phillips, Pope, Searcy, Stone, Van Buren, Washington, and Yell. All work to be performed must be consistent with the guidelines established in "A Land Manager's Guide to Point Counts of Birds in the Southeast (Hamel, 1996) which can be found at http://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/pubs/1594 and the utilize the field sheet form provided. Four-character alpha codes for bird species should utilize the ones provided in "The Land Manager's Guide to the Birds of the South (Hamel, 1992). The publication is available at http://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/pubs/2702. As part of the qualifications for this project, the individual must be able to demonstrate that he/she has successfully completed a 4-year couse of study leading to a B.S. degree in Ornithology or related biological field with graduate level coursewoork desirable. The individual shall also demonstrate knowledge in bird identification (both visual and auditory), life history, and identifying habitat associations. The individual shall demonstrate his/her knowledge and proficiency at completing vegetation plots of othe overstory, midstory, and herbaceous layer associated with bird census as described in "A Land Manager's Guide to Point Counts of Birds in the Southeast (Hamel, 1996)".
