- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Research Triangle Park, NC 27709 intends to negotiate with Life Technologies Corp., Carlsbad, CA 92008, pursuant to 41U.S.C.253(c)(1}-0nly one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. NIEHS is in need of a multi-fluorence imaging system that allows for environmental control and time-laspe imaging with small footprint. NIEHS innate immune system patrols the body searching for environmental cues that care potential danger signals, such as irradiation, chemical exposure or infection. The ability of inmate immune system to resolve these stresses relies in part on engagement of the autophagy machinery. The investigators ability to visualize these proteins and their actions in the resolution of these dangers is critical to understand the mechanisms my which we handle environmental danger. This system is critical to the Institutes research as it allows NIEHS to observe, in real time, the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of wound healing, inflammation and immunity. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 5 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The award is subject to approval of the justification for other than full and open competition. If no affirmative responses are received within 5 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Life Technologies Corp. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
