- P687 1 MW CHP Microturbine Plant, Camp Barrett, Quantico, VA: The project consists of the design and construction of a combined heat and power (CHP) generation facility in the Camp Barrett Boiler Plant consisting of five 200 kW natural gas fired microturbines to provide 1MW of clean electricity and heat. The electricity generated will be fed into the Camp Barrett distribution grid. The waste heat from the microturbines will be captured and used to provide 32,500 MMBTU/year of high temperature hot water (HTHW) to Camp Barrett facilities. A peak load boiler system consisting of new, high efficiency natural gas fired boilers will also be required to meet peak HTHW demands. The installation of a new natural gas line to the Camp Barrett Boiler Plant (1,320 linear feet) is required. Demolition and removal of the two existing 23 year old, Fuel Oil #6, 22 MMBTU boilers is also required. Contractor shall interface new with existing equipment to achieve a complete, properly functioning system. Any construction phasing shall be per RFP requirements (RFP will not be provided at this time). Commissioning of the system by the Contractor will be required to demonstrate proper system performance and functioning in all modes of operation (normal and emergency, etc.).
