- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) intend to award a follow-on contract to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN to expand the NIOSH Pilot PPE Sentinel Surveillance System. Under a prior NIOSH contract, Vanderbilt University Medical Center developed this system to monitor PPE usage during pandemic events. Therefore, Vanderbilt University has the specialized knowledge required for the efficient expansion of the system. The effort was in support of the programmatic goal to construct a national occupational surveillance system to monitor all PPE and hazards in a variety of work environments. The initial phases of the prior contract focused on respiratory protective devices. The intent of the proposed action is to expand the pilot NIOSH PPE Sentinel Surveillance System to include: (1) 10-15 additional hospitals (including a representative number of the 35 recently announced HHS designated Ebola Treatment Centers) and (2) all types of PPE required for effective Ebola treatment. The objective is to establish a national system to monitor usage and training for PPE used to protect against the Ebola virus based on current CDC recommendations. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within fifteen (15) calendar days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government whether or not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive acquisition should be undertaken. Any response should be emailed to Contract Specialist Kate Oyler at ycy4@cdc.gov by 4:00 p.m. EST, January 21, 2015.
