- Description
- The Missile Defense Agency is announcing the award of a sole-source letter contract to Lockheed Martin Corporation - Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, California with a not-to-exceed (NTE) price of $91,057,794. This is a modification to the previously awarded contract HQ0147-12-G-9000 0001 for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system. This modification acquires Continental United States and Outside Continental United States support for services and equipment to ensure execution of Foreign Military Sale (FMS) Case AE-B-UAF to field the THAAD Weapon System. Work will be performed at Las Cruces, New Mexico; Huntsville, Alabama; Sunnyvale, California; and United Arab Emirates with an expected completion date of October 31, 2019. Non-expiring, direct site funds (as provided under this FMS case) will be used. The Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, Alabama is the contracting activity (HQ0147). This sole source contract action is authorized under the provisions of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) and (d)(1)(B), as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii) and (iii), which authorizes other than full and open competition when the required supplies/services are available from only one responsible source, or only from a limited number of responsible sources, and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. Award to any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition and would also result in unacceptable delays in fulfilling the Agency's requirements.
