Description
REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION: 1.0Background/Introduction: The goal is a feasibility study to determine alternative laser technologies (specifically Continuous Wave Lasers) to be employed in resonance ionization mass spectroscopy (RIMS) in analysis of the actinides and fission products, particularly in specifying lasers for robust, field deployable RIMS systems. The RIMS system addresses atomic spectroscopy for rapid post detonation nuclear forensics. In order to achieve ionization, laser beams with enough energy must be used to excite the desired isotope. For this task, the lasers have to be very stable over a long period of operation, fine tunable on the order of a few nanometers with the bandwidth capable of varying from 2 GHz down to 50 MHz for high-resolution spectroscopy to excite as many states as possible. Furthermore, power and frequency must be computer controlled using feedback mechanisms to assure real-time parameter correction. The CW laser study will address critical parameters of lasers necessary for achieving stability, mean wavelength, bandwidth and spectral mode structure comparing that to the current established Pulsed laser system. 2.0Minimal Technical Requirements: Vendors must submit a capabilities statement or proof that the units quoted will simultaneously meet the minimal technical requirements: The supplies/technical requirements needed includes: - Laser type: CW diode Laser - Operating Wavelength range: 840 to 855 nm, Output CW Power: 2 Watts or greater, Tuning Range: 15 nm or greater, Fine Tuning to: 2 GHz/V - Laser Controllers: The ability to control power and wavelength of the CW diode laser. - Frequency Modulation: 0.1 “ 10 kHz, Interface: ability to plug n play via GPIB, USB or RS232 to Windows 7 3.0 Deliverables The deliverables include all hardware and software required for operation upon delivery and training schedule. 4.0 Schedule All components are due within 30 days after award of purchase order. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF QUOTATION: Offerors questions shall be submitted no later than 5:00 PM PST 22 December 2014, the government will provide a response no later than 23 December 2014, and the proposal shall be submitted no later than 5:00 PM PST 29 December 2014 and shall be valid for 60 days. PLEASE SEE THE RFQ FOR COMPLETE DETAILS
