- Description
- To potential suppliers, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has an new upcoming project that we are in the process of identifying potential suppliers. The new LCLS-II project involves the design and installation of an extensive cable plant system. The Cable Plant consists of all the necessary infra-structure to support, protect, and conduct a wide variety of cables connecting the beam line devices in the three-kilometer accelerator building to several hundred electronics racks in support buildings. The cable plant project also includes the layout design of the electronic racks and cabinets necessary to house the electronic components. The scope also includes the effort required to coordinate the cable plant design with the mechanical and electrical design engineering staff. Examples of major electrical systems involved include DC Power system, Machine Protection system, Personnel Protection system, Beam Position Monitoring, Vacuum System, Timing, Networks, etc. The design package shall consist of a set of drawings, specifications, and Cable Coding Sheets (Cable List). The project will need a firm that can provide professional and technical services including, but not limited to the following: 1. Conducting on site surveys to document existing legacy cable plant system including the location of Electronic rack and other boxes and electronic equipment or meet with System Engineers to develop a plan for the installation. This includes the preparation of drawings that show the exact location in each beam line component in the tunnel. 2. Drafting single line and wiring diagrams for Telecommunications, Data, DC Power, Fiber Optics, Vacuum High Voltage, Limited power cables, building layouts, electronic racks, cabinets, pull boxes, conduits, supports & cable tray layouts. 3. Prepare a full bid package for installation including drawings and specifications. 4. Design packages shall comply with the latest National Electric Code (NEC) and other National Standards, best engineering practices, and SLAC & DOE Standards. Questions 1. Q -- Have you designed (& installed) cable plants for industrial or scientific facilities? 2. Q -- Any jobs at a site with legacy cable infrastructure already in place (as opposed to new, green field installation)? 3. Q -- Describe one or more of the above jobs including the rough $ magnitude 4. Q-- did you have to document the legacy system already in place? 5. Q -- Who is your typical POC at the customer's place? 6. Q -- What as-built documentation do you usually provide? Please reply to the questions above.
