Description
Sole Source Justification - Redacted Urgent contract action for assessment and repair of the Ion Vapor Deposition machine located at Robins AFB to be issued sole source to Pregl Services, Inc. IAW FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). Pregl Services, Inc. was the only source identified that could meet the government's required start date of 22-Dec-2014. The Sole Source Justification and the Request for Quote (RFQ) are attached hereto. IVD machines are utilized in the metal finishing of aircraft parts in support of the C-5, C-17, C-130 and F-15 weapon systems. Nearly every serviced aircraft part at Robins AFB must undergo this metal finishing prior to installation on the aircraft. CMXG has 2 ea. IVD machines, with one of the two machines in need of repair. With one machine in operation, CMXG is capable of meeting most high priority and urgent requirements, but is falling behind on routine requirements. If the operable machine breaks down, metal finishing of parts for the C-5, C-17, C-130 and F-15 will stop, causing the grounding of aircrafts. The expected lead time for repair of this machine is 5 business days, or longer if ordered parts are required, increasing the potential aircraft groundings. If this urgent maintenance requirement is not begun by 22 Dec 2014, CMXG will fall farther behind on routine metal finishing, and begin to lapse on priority and urgent requirements. If the second machine breaks down, all metal finishing at Robins AFB will be halted. All questions regarding this solicitation should be directed to the contracting officer.
