Description

THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This is not a solicitation for bids, proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this RFI is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to deliver and integrate a potential requirement. The responses received from interested contractors will assist the Government in determining the appropriate products required and will help determine the most appropriate acquisition method. This RFI is for fully automated multi-packer solution. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) VISN 15 Contracting Office is seeking information from contractors regarding the capabilities and system performance for fully automated multi-packer solution. The system shall be a fully automated packing system capable of packing multiple items from a single tote that is intended for one patient. The system must be able to pack all items from a selected tote, including but not limited to, various sized prescription bottles, boxes, and liquids. The system must be capable of inserting all necessary patient instruction information in each package along with the pharmaceuticals, and refill slips into the proper packages with 100% accuracy. The solution shall read 1- Dimensional barcode package labels and have the capability to scan 2-Dimentional barcodes. An in-line scale shall weigh the pouch and its contents, and record that information in an electronic file, prior to placing the pouch on the bag discharge conveyor. Weight information shall be compared to expected weights and the system must reject pouches that are over or under the expected weight. This system will need to occupy the existing facility footprint, is required to meet the additional throughput as contracted with the upcoming Tablet/Capsule Automation and Unit of Use subsystems, and be installed with minimal downtime on whole system production. Interested parties are encouraged to submit their capabilities and any descriptive product literature to explain their company, products provided, and any past performance information in relation fully automated multi-packing solutions. Respondents are advised that the Government is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted. The Government may or may not issue a solicitation as a result of this announcement. There is no solicitation available at this time.
