Description
Draft SOW - Currency Reader Information Management System (CRIMS) BEP Currency Reader Distribution Project – Concept of Operations (September 17, 2014) The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) has entered into an Inter-Agency Agreement with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (hereafter referred to as BEP, a Division of The United States' Department of the Treasury) to distribute currency readers that are capable of determining the denomination of a U.S. Federal banknote. These currency readers are manufactured by Orbit Research, and are called iBill Currency Readers. NLS requires the acquisition of services for the development, implementation, deployment, and the on-going operations of a new Information Management System, the Currency Reader Information Management System (CRIMS). CRIMS shall support the management of patrons and devices associated with the Currency Reader Project. CRIMS shall interface/interact with the Patron Information Machine Maintenance System (PIMMS) to communicate patron information and related records to the system. PIMMS is the replacement system for the NLS Comprehensive Mailing List System (CMLS). In compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), only NLS-appointed staff shall have direct access to the PIMMS systems. The overall system is expected to be FISMA compliant at the "moderate" level. The contractor shall also perform due diligence needed to comply with federal IT security regulations.
