Description
Solicitation Number: N4689614RCNCR21 Notice Type: Special Notice (NOTE REVISED NAME/ADDRESS OF FIRM) Synopsis: The Defense Health Agency (DHA) Contract Operations Division - National Capitol Region, Bethesda, MD, intends to issue a firm-fixed-price, sole source contract to Carl Zeiss MEDITEC, Inc., 5160 Hacienda Drive, Dublin, CA 94568-7562; through an Authorized Original Equipment Representative to provide equipment/ installation and technical support to replace Unit One(1) of an identical three (3) Unit fleet of Surgical Operating Microscopes (SOMs), used by the Department of Surgery, at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, MD 20889. This action contemplates the procurement of one (1) Zeiss OPMI PENTRO 900 SOM (model# 000000-1776-291). The replacement unit is intended to be identical to the two existing units, and must have the same or equal Neurosurgeon familiarity, training regimens, and maintenance commonality with the existing make/model of the fleet of SOMs, which are not being replaced, at the Department of Surgery, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, MD. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12.603 under streamlined solicitation for commercial items. Carl Zeiss MEDITEC, Inc., of Dublin, CA is the developer/manufacturer the SOM technologies already deployed in the Department of Surgery at WRNMMC, and it is intended to replace the present non-functioning unit with an identical replacement unit, which in operation shall utilize the existing Neurosurgeon familiarity, training regimens, and maintenance commonality as is presently employed. Carl Zeiss MEDITEC, Inc. has sole access to the data rights for its equipment, systems; their hardware/software, integration and maintenance. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 333314 and the size standard is 500 employees. All responsible sources may submit a response. A determination made by the Government to not compete this requirement will be based on responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A solicitation will not be issued. Interested firms may identify their interest in writing to the Government point of contact. All responses to this notice must be received no later than 10:00 AM EST, 14 November 2014.
