Description

This Sources Sought Synopsis announcement is being conducted to identify potential sources that possess the technical capability and qualifications in meeting the Government's minimum needs for the manufacture, test, inspection, and delivery of assembly kits wherein each kit will be composed of a Sleeved Aft Bulkhead Assembly, a Flushing Tube Assembly, and a Rupture Disk Assembly to be used in the upgrade of the MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo Engine. Currently, the Torpedo Systems Department has a requirement to procure MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo components that were approved to upgrade the existing Torpedo inventory. The Sleeved Aft Bulkhead Assembly, Flushing Tube Assembly, and Rupture Disk Assembly kits will support the efforts presently underway with Ordnance Alteration (ORDALT 11007) designed to improve the capabilities of the MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo Engine. The procurement will fulfill the Fleet's requirement by providing new assemblies without the need to modify GFE. It is anticipated that up to 700 each of the assembly kits will be procured to support outstanding torpedo's which have not been upgraded with the assembly kits and additional spares to support Fleet demand.
