- Title: Maintenance & Repair of 16 Bell & Howell Automated Mail Processing Systems Description: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has a requirement for maintenance and repair services of the sixteen (16) Campus Automated Processing Systems (CAMPS) located throughout eight (8) IRS Campus sites nationwide. On-site maintenance and repair for 16 Campus Automated Mail Processing Systems (CAMPS) located at the seven (7) IRS Submission processing Campuses. The CAMPS is Bell & Howell (B&H) J9000 S Flat and Letter Sorter. This sorter is a version of the B&H J9000, modified to add features and functions to meet the specialized requirements of the IRS. The CAMPS are used to process incoming and outgoing mail on a daily basis; they automatically open, count, sort, and detect remittances. Selected pieces of mail are automatically identified for gathering statistics. CAMPS barcodes presorted envelopes, sort mail by Zip Code for postal discount and presorts mail in accordance with U.S. Postal Service requirements. The CAMPS equipment and maintenance and repair services were purchased under a competitive acquisition sixteen (16) years ago which was awarded to Bell & Howell (B&H), under contract TIRNO-09-C-00037. This B&H equipment contains proprietary software, firmware, hardware and electronic system designs to process incoming and outgoing mail on a daily basis. This acquisition is for maintenance and repair services for the equipment for an anticipated 60 month performance period (a Base Year, and four (4) one (1)-year Option periods). Interested firms are required to submit a capabilities statement showing they have the technological data and ability necessary to maintain this equipment in accordance with B&H requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for proposals. However, all capability statements received within 30 calendar days from the date of this synopsis is published in the Federal Business Opportunities will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
