- Description
- The purpose of this announcement is for market research purposes to determine what capable businesses are available that can support our 65 NOAA All Hazards Radio (NWR) transmitter sites in the State of Kentucky. The government is anticipating a base year with four additional one year option periods. The National Weather Service (NWS) is a component of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, with a core mission of protection of lives and property of the people of the United States and our territories. The NWS currently has 1,000 NWR transmitters operating Nationwide, and this network is our primary system of notification for general forecast data, watch and warning dissemination, Amber Alert dissemination, and natural or manmade disaster alert and dissemination to our customers, and is a integral part of or forecast mission and process. This network must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with only limited service interruptions regardless of conditions at the transmitter site. Some of the potential work that may be required under these requirements would include all emergency corrective actions, regularly scheduled preventive maintenance actions, as well as facilities to house the equipment, logistics support, and a state wide Microwave communications interface so that we may disseminate watch warning and forecast data to the public we serve. A draft of the scope of work is attached. Responses to this request for information shall not constitute responses to any request for quote, which is not currently available. No request for quote currently exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the request for quote. The decision to solicit for a contract shall be solely at the Governments discretion.
