Description
HYDRO GENERATOR STUDIES AND REPORTS: The Bureau of Reclamation intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Ceati International, Inc. This project involves the development of comprehensive guide that will be used by the owners of hydro-generators in case of stator winding damage. This guide will provide recommendations for temporary winding repairs in order to return generator back into operation. The guide will include methods to assess the consequences in the case of the bypassed damaged stator winding coils. It will also provide recommendations on the exclusion of healthy parts of the stator winding in order to achieve symmetry in the machine that would be disrupted by the removal of damaged parts of the winding. This project originally started in January 2013 as pre-project, which had a main task to confirm that by using the FEM (Finite Element Method) methodology it is possible to accurately calculate effects of bypassed stator winding coils on generator models. In pre-project five generator models have been selected and analyzed. The pilot has concluded and Reclamation is now ready for the next phase which involves documentation that will be provided on five selected generators, FEM models were designed. Numerical calculations have been performed on fallowing generators: Glen Canyon G6, Glen Canyon G2, Grand Coulee Left G4, Shipshaw G5 and one Hydro Quebec unit. Pre-project was completed in October 2013, along with Final report No. T112700-0379, titled OPERATION OF HYDRO GENERATORS WITH BYPASSED STATOR COILS. The Final Report is divided in the 7 chapters and 2 appendixes, were results of the pre-project are presented. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. If firms believe they have the technical capability to meet this need, submit a technical capability statement along with business profile to Mr. Ronald Graham at ronaldgraham@usbr.gov within 1 day of this notice. Any information received will be treated as market research information towards future similar or same requirement. Quotations or proposals received in response to this notice will not be accepted since this synopsis is not a request for quote or a request for proposal.
