- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Andor Technology, 425 Sullivan Ave, South Windsor, CT 06074, pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1) as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 -Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for an Andor Revolution Mosaic Imaging System. This procurement is for (1) each of the following components: 1) MM-8201-SUB/ Mosaic 3 random access active illumination device; 2) MM-7310-NFS-FFEP-1/ Nikon Universal Complete Epi Illuminator 10 w/Lamp House adapter set; 3) MM-7238-M-ZSF/ Zeiss Flange Male; 4) MM-7235-NKF-HMX/ 38mm Nikon HMX style Microscope; 5) MM-7246-4-BSP-440/ Beam splitter Plug, Short Pass 440nm, 50x50mm dichroic mirror 440 DCSP XRU; 6) MM-7247-BSP-100/ Beam splitter Plug, 50x50 mm first surface mirror -100% epi; 7) MP-2261-55/ 455 EDGE lp Epi dichroic-MicroPoint + Confocal; 8) MP-2272-CSL-026/ 26mm Cross line = modern Zeiss and Leica microscopes; 9) MM-7404-FT-YLM/ Mosaic Fluorescence Target Yellow (small Zeiss, Olympus); 10) MM-7401-FTA-025/ Fluor Target adapter Nikon and Leica nosepiece 25x 0.75 thread; 11) IQ-UPGR-23X/ IQ Upgrade from version 2.x to 3.x includes support and software upgrades; 12) MP-2261-91032/ Nikon TIE and TE2000 adjustable laser illumination microscope fluorescence cube (metal) 81032; 13) XS-INTR-001/ Installation/Training including travel & hotel expenses, One day travel, one day in Laboratory; and 14) MM-7310-NFS-RFND/ Refund for return of Customer Complete Nikon Universal EPL Illuminator 10 with Lamp House adapter set, includes flange, optics, Illumination arm. NIEHS studies the role of acetylcholine in learning and memory in brain slice electrophysiology in combination with optogenetics. Brain slices from transgenic mice are cultured and injected with viruses for the expression of the light-sensitive channel channelrhodopsin-2 either in septal cholinergic neurons or hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons. The Andor Mosaic 3 System is the only patented commercially available microscope illumination system that uses a DMD- digital micro-mirror device to produce digital/targeted illumination on an optical microscope. Andor Technology holds intellectual property rights for the use of DMS's with an optical microscope. Interested parties may respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchase Agent using the provided email address. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received within 5 days for the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 5 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Andor Technology. The award is subject to approval of the justification for other than full and open competition. The NAICS Code/Size is 333314/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
