Description
The purpose of this project is to construct improvements to United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) managed lands upstream of the incomplete Elk Creek Dam Project. The Elk Creek Project is located along Elk Creek near the Rogue River approximately 25 miles Northeast of Medford, Oregon in Jackson County. USACE - Portland District manages approximately 3502 acres for natural resources and dispersed recreation in the Elk Creek Project. Contractor will be responsible for items as solicited in the formal plans and specifications package. Contractor design elements detailed in the specifications will be reviewed by USACE-Portland District and must be submitted and approved with enough lead time to ensure they can be completed during designated work periods. All work that must be completed in the in-water-work period must be done between June-September 2015. All other work will be completed by 1 October 2015. The project covers all work required to meet all of the individual line items. This includes, but is not limited to the following: 1. Remove, design, and replace two bridges: West Branch Vehicle Bridge and Alco Creek Bridge. 2. Guardrail and Boulder Placement. 3. Road Repair with either chip seal or spot repair in various areas on the access road, parking lot, and county road. 4. Remove approximately 1000 linear feet of 8 foot tall wire mesh fence, gate, and posts. 5. Survey and vegetate a side channel habitat site for salmonid species. 6. Optional: Remove dam overlook parking lot, associated access road, north abutment access road and gates. 7. Optional: Fill and vegetate of large open area containing concrete blocks. 8. Optional: Placement of additional plantings in side channel area.
