- Description
- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 1. What is the pressure in the bombing system? -The bombing pressure depends on the internal volume of the part. We would like it to be around 20 psig, but there is a relationship between pressure and the time it takes for the item to be saturated. I wouldn't dictate as a minimum technical spec, but a suggestion of pressures around 20 psig may be warranted. 2. What are the detailed specs for the bombing chamber? Material preference, size, type and size of the door. -The chamber/door must be big enough to insert and hold a 6"x6"x8" part, and withstand the necessary bombing pressure that corresponds to a bomb time of no more than 8 hours. No other material requirements. 3. What does digitally controlled pressure chamber imply? Does it require a pressure gauge, valves, pressure regulator and all accessories to digitally control the pressure? Will it need to be temperature controlled as well? -Digitally controlled implies that the pressure in the chamber must be able to be regulated and set with digital controls operated by the user. Temperature control is not necessary. 4. Will the bombing chamber, test chamber and leak detector need to be installed on a common skid? Are there any space limitations if that is the case? Are there any guidelines on where each component should be? -Yes, they should all be together on a common skid. There is only a space limitation in the sense that all parts must be incorporated together on the same unit. Each component should be laid out in a manner such that it is easy for operator to easily conduct the required testing. No size limitation per se but he system needs to be contained on a cart or something similar. 5. Does the system need to start testing for leaks at atmospheric pressure? -NO 6. What is the acceptable time period for the leak test portion of the test? -8 hr as a maximum 7. Any specific requirements in regards to the pumping speed of the leak detector? -NONE 8. Any specific requirements in regards to the type of pumps that can be used? Oil sealed or dry? -NONE 9. Is there a vacuum test chamber required for after the Helium bombing is performed? -YES
