Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee intends to issue sole source, firm fixed priced, commercial item purchase order to Spok, Inc., 6850 Versar Center, Ste 420, Springfield, VA 22151-4148. The contractor shall provide software maintenance support for the AMCOM Software Medicall System which was installed at the Lexington VAMC to replace the current on-call system, which is not currently supported by the Lexington, VAMC Information Management Service. The services will be performed at the Lexington VA Medical Center, 1101 Veterans Drive, Lexington, KY, 40502. This procurement will be sole sourced to Spok, Inc. due to maintenance services for the Medicall system installed at the Lexington VA Medical Center, can only be provided by Spok, Inc. (Amcom) Software, since this is a proprietary software system. With the sensitive nature of these mission-critical, life safety communications systems, 3rd party upgrades and or add-ons to Spok, Inc. Amcom products by vendors other than Spok Inc. (Amcom) cannot be certified. Spok, Inc. installed the current Medicall system within the Lexington VA Medical Center. The MediCall/Xtend Software allows staff to access critical call processing information to be used 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This will assist the Lexington VAMC in providing the most accurate and best possible care to our nations veterans. Due to the sensitive nature of this emergency response system, in order to ensure compatibility and consistency, and since 3rd party maintenance is not supported or certified, Spok, Inc. shall provide software maintenance support for the AMCOM Medicall Software in order to provide critical life safety communications and the most accurate, efficient, customer service possible. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1 and 13.106-1(b) (2), "soliciting from a single source." The NAICS code is 541519 and has a size standard of $25.5M for this procurement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement and submit quotations no later than 3:00PM CST, September 9, 2014 to: Matthew.Cox@va.gov. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses received to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
