Description

THIS IS A SOLE SOURCE NOTICE. The USDA/ARS intends to award a Firm fixed price sole source contract under the 41 U.S.C 253 (c) (1) FAR 6.302-1 (2) (C) (ii) (A) only one responsible source to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys. Description of Requirement: The objective of this sole source award is to procure NHANES III Sera. The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is a program of studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The survey is unique in that it combines interviews and physical examinations. NHANES is a major program of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). NCHS is part of the CDC and has the responsibility for producing vital and health statistics for the nation. The survey examines a nationally representative sample of about 5,000 persons each year. The NHANES interview includes demographic, socioeconomic, dietary and health related questions as well as collection of a blood sample which can be acquired by researchers to administer laboratory tests. Data from this survey is used in epidemiological studies and health sciences research which helps develop sound public health policy, direct and design health programs and services, and expand the health knowledge for the nation. The NHANES sera will be tested for antibodies to an oocyst-specific protein using custom ELISA test kits provided by the USDA, APDL. This requirement will be for the purchase of QTY - 6,078 EACH, NHANES III Sera, 1999-2004. The NAICS code for this requirement is 325414, and the small business size standard is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes however; all information received by 12 September 2014 will be considered by the Government. All interested vendors must respond by 12 September 2014, 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time, Responses shall be submitted to the point of contact Kristen Turner at Kristen.turner@ars.usda.gov. The e-mail subject line shall state: NHANES III Sera, Notice of Intent to Sole Source. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based on upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
