DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES AND SPECIFICATIONS The contractor shall construct three (3) structures at the USMS-SOG Range 8 Firearms Training Facility. The structures to be sourced and assembled/constructed are: • A ballistic "knee wall" to protect the existing automated target system on the 40 point firing range at Range 8. The knee wall shall be approximately 205' in length, shall utilize 10" x 38" 14 gauge galvanized material as framing. The cover shall be a minimum of 22 gauge material. All fasteners must be stainless steel. The thickness of the coverage above the blocks shall not exceed ½" to minimize ricochet/deflection of ballistic projectiles. The 8"x 8" x16" ballistic rubber blocks necessary to assemble the knee wall shall be provided by USMS-SOG. These blocks will be affixed 3 high for a height of approximately 24." • A single slope awning to cover the entire 50 yard firing line on the 40 point range at Range 8. The cover shall be at least 12' wide; not more than 10' high on the high side and no less than 8' on the low side and will include gutters and downspouts. All framing shall be 14 gauge galvanized material. All sheeting shall be 26 gauge Galvalume PBR roofing panel. All sheeting and trim shall be polar white to include the gutters and downspouts. All trim shall be 26 gauge galvanized material with required fasteners. Posts and downspouts shall be in locations to not interfere with walkways that go downrange. All screws and fasteners shall be long life. Posts shall be in the ground a minimum of 30" and will be affixed in 3000 PSI concrete of at least 14" in diameter. The minimum slope for the cover shall be 12." • A single slope awning to cover two permanently affixed rail cars at Range 8. All framing shall consist of galvanized 14 gauge framing. All roof sheeting shall consist of 26 gauge Galvalume PBR (unfinished), and panels shall be 3' wide coverage. The cover width shall not be more than 13' wide and not less than 12' wide; the height shall not be more than 24," on the high side, above the top of the box cars and not more than 6" above the top of the box car on the low side. Posts shall be 4"x4" square galvanized tubing, and will be affixed in the ground a minimum of 30" in a minimum of 3000 PSI concrete of at least 14" in diameter. The amount of post in the ground shall be a minimum of 20% of the total post height. Posts shall be equally spaced and shall not impede the roll up doors on one side of the boxcars. The single slope awning covers may be welded or bolted/screwed together or a combination thereof. If they are welded, the welds shall be cleaned, primed and coated with a cold galvanized spray. If screws are utilized they shall be #14 x 1½ galvanized with no washer. All bolts shall be ½" x 1" galvanized flat head bolts with washer and nut. All drawings and plans must be submitted for approval by a Government representative before the contract is awarded and work begins. The Government will make additional data, photographs or arrange site visits as requested prior to the award of the contract.
