- NEAL SMITH FEDERAL BUILDING DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS REGIONAL OFFICE 210 WALNUT STREET ROOM 1063B. DES MOINES, IA 50309 Purpose - Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office Des Moines' existing Information Technology (IT) server room has two air conditioning systems, a primary and backup. The backup AC unit is a 7.5 ton Liebert that has developed refrigerant leaks along with a compressor failure. Although the backup unit is over 20 years old, it is not cost effect to replace the entire unit based on the frequency in which it will be used. Air conditioning is a vital protective measure for the servers which provide business applications, data entry, etc., for approximately 200 RO and outbased employees and co-located and County Veterans Service Officers. Scope of Work - The service can be completed during normal business hours. Services required are: 1.Remove/discard old compressor and any old materials or refrigerant. 2.Install new compressor (not rebuilt). 3.Pressurize at approximately 500 microns and line test from compressor to the roof. 4.Use dry nitrogen and pressurize for the leak testing. 5.Once tested and no leaks are found, fill with approximately 99 lbs. of refrigerant. 6.Successful testing of temperature set points and humidity set points in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and VBA Regional Office Computer Room Design Guidelines Version 2.02 July 10, 2006, Section 6.3, will be completed. AC work will be performed by a selected, qualified contractor in accordance with "VBA Regional Office Computer Room Design Guidelines Version 2.02 July 10, 2006". Location of Work - Neal Smith Federal Building, 210 Walnut Street, Room 1063B (10th floor-IT server room), Des Moines Iowa. Period of Performance - Once the order has been placed with the AC contractor the contractor will promptly order all necessary equipment. This should take approximately one (1) to two (2) weeks, after the equipment has been delivered to the contractor. Work shall begin on site, at 210 Walnut Street, Des Moines, Iowa within five business days. The anticipated timeframe for installation and testing is one (1) to (2) days. Deliverables - All applicable components, tools, supporting hardware, lubricants and refrigerants to be supplied by the selected contractor Type of contract or payment schedule - Firm fixed price.
