- Synopses - Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source to CLC BIO, LLC Date: 02 Sept 2014 Year: 2014 Contracting Office Zip Code: 21702-9232 Classification Code - 511210 - Software Publishers Contracting Office Address - USA Medical Research Acquisition Activity, 820 Chandler Street, Fort Detrick, MD 21702-5014 Subject: Notice of Intent to Sole Source a Contract to CLC CIO, LLC. Provide customized bioinformatics solution for the analysis of data in the form of a plug-in prototype for the existing Genomics Factory Platform. Solicitation Number: W81XWH-14-T-0502 Closing Response Date: Notice of Intent - 17 Sept 2014. Contact Point: Michael Baughman at michael.e.baughman.civ@mail.mil or 301-619-2315. Contract Award Dollar Amount: $76,000.00 Contract Award Date: 23 Sept 2014 Contractor: CLCBIO LLC Description: The proposed contractor for this action is CLC BIO LLC. The United States Armed Forces Medical Examiners Services (AFMES) and Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL) procured a user-friendly software package known as the CLC BIO, LLC's Genomics Factory Platform for analyzing, comparing, and visualizing NGS data. The contractor will provide customized bioinformatics solution for AFDIL that will help the organization work more effectively by using existing tools when possible. CLC BIO, LLC will work with AFDIL to employ a scientifically valid toolset supporting AFDIL workflow and IT requirements, including the options to lock down workflows for routine analysis, yet having the possibility to change parameters when needed. Though the software is currently capable of performing useful analyses, the highly-specialized analyses necessary to ensure conformity to the strict quality standards required for forensic data are cumbersome and time-consuming. Moreover, adherence to forensic conventions and guidelines for data reporting is of utmost importance but currently impossible within the current version of the software. This customization project would not only incorporate automation of routine, repetitive tasks required for quality control but also create new functionality geared at forensic-specific interpretation of the data. No other vendor supports this COTS application. Place of Contract Performance - Dover, DE Set-aside Status: None
