- 14SNB33_spec note This solicitation is being posted to Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov/. FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet. Please feel free to use the FBO site to access information posted by NSWC Crane. MARKET SURVEY: The Government is issuing this RFI/sources sought announcement as part of market research for a Network Attached Storage (NAS) media reader. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division located at the Naval Support Activity, Crane, IN is seeking information from companies with the capabilities and facilities to provide Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), Non-Developmental Items (NDI), or a near NDI solution for a NAS media reader. Sources are requested to provide information on potential solutions based on the ability to meet the preliminary requirements. Specific information is requested on how the proposed solution would meet the preliminary requirements indicated below. If a potential solution meets some requirements but does not meet others, please highlight and address what can and cannot be reasonably met. For those requirements that cannot be met, please describe the reason for the shortfall in detail. This announcement intends to identify technology solutions for a NAS media reader. Preliminary Requirements: 1. Overall dimensions less than 1.5" x 6" x 9" not including cables (objective). 2. Provide access to removable media via Ethernet. 3. Preferred removable media is CD-ROM (objective). Compact Flash, Secure Digital Card, and USB are also of interest. 4. Device should be ruggedized (objective). 5. Device should not be sensitive to Electromagnetic Interference (objective). 6. Device should not require re-initialization or any special procedure in order to access new media. 7. Device should operate on 28 VDC (objective). 8. Device firmware and software should not be reprogrammable without opening the device (objective). All interested parties are encouraged to submit company and product literature, a white paper no longer than 5 pages, and/or other pertinent information, such as a description with performance parameters and a statement of current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, a budgetary estimate of test articles, production units, and production quantity breaks for the Government(s) consideration by 3:00 PM EDT on 30 SEP 2014. At the current time, NO FUNDING IS AVAILABLE for contractual efforts. This sources sought synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ), or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The US Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. Any costs incurred by interested companies in response to this announcement will NOT be reimbursed.
