- Description
- NASA/MSFC has a requirement for environmental remediation services at Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL). The support to be continued under this contract until the follow-on is awarded includes reimbursable expense items currently being negotiated with Boeing as an Access Agreement and is anticipated to be signed no later than September 30, 2014. The reimbursable expense items are associated with the SSFL in the state of California. NASA/George C. Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is under an AdministrativeOrder on Consent for Remedial Action, State of California, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Toxic Substances Control, signed December 6, 2010, for the mandated cleanup of soil of a NASAs responsible portion of SSFL. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the services/reimbursable expense items from The Boeing Company. This extension is a bridge action until such time as the follow-on contract with Boeing can be completed. This procurement is for the continuation of service provided under the contract by Boeing since 2008. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. This synopsis is for information only due to the nature of the environmental remediation effort ongoing at SSFL. Federal and State environmental laws require remediation of the affected areas followed by a period of monitoring. California law requires that remediation be sustained, without cessation, through completion. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/p ub_library/Omb.html.
