- Description
- First Aid Acupuncture Training for Nellis Air Force Base Resident Physicians Description: The US Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Natick Contracting Division, on behalf of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) to The Acus Foundation, Berkeley, CA. The US Air Force Clinical Investigations Program (CIP) requires military-specific acupuncture training for primary care and resident physicians at Nellis Air Force Base, NV in support of investigational studies involving the use of acupuncture to mitigate operational stress and injury. Training will enhance the care of enrolled subjects and increase the number of principal investigators able to participate in clinical studies at Nellis Air Force Base. The training required includes very specific treatments/methods designed to mitigate military operational stress and injury, including pain management and mental/behavioral health issues. Such treatments/methods include (but are not limited to): comprehensive auricular acupuncture (auricular anatomy, auricular scanning, Auricular Trauma Protocol (ATP), battlefield acupuncture (BFA), narcotics addiction protocol (NADA)); pain management techniques (surface release technique (SRT), tendinomuscular meridian treatments (TMM), trigger point deactivation/scar deactivation (TPD), two needle technique (TNT), and interosseous needling (KB1 and 2)). All treatments/methods required for this training are service protected, copyrighted and proprietary to Helms Medical Institute (HMI), and loaned by HMI to its nonprofit Acus Foundation for military teaching purposes. While other vendors can provide generic acupuncture training, only Acus possesses the proprietary techniques, specialized expertise and requisite experience needed to accomplish the required training. This is not a request for quotation. Inquiries and responses may be sent to Girbaud Tibodeau, Contract Specialist, via email at girbaud.j.tibodeau.ctr@mail.mil no later than September 08, 2014, 5:00 PM (EST).
