Description
The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and non-personal services necessary to assess/inspect and clean foundation drains at the spillway as defined in this Performance Work Statement except for those items specified as government furnished property and services. The contractor shall perform to the standards in this contract. The foundation drains consist of 8-inch diameter unlined holes in the chalk and shale foundation material, and extend from elevation 1137, base of the weir, down to elevation 1122, 15 feet below. The holes are packed with gravel around a 2-inch diameter rigid thermo-plastic riser pipe. Sides of the riser pipe are slotted, to serve as a screen. The bottom of the pipe is closed and the top open. The top extends upward one foot above the base of the weir into a vertical 2-1/2 inch steel pipe embedded in the concrete which in turn extends vertically into the gallery above to a level of 6 inches above the gallery floor. They are located directly under the gallery floor and are spaced 24 feet on centers throughout the length of the gallery. A continuous half-round channel is formed in the underside of the base of the weir, 1 foot, 2 inches upstream, at the base of the weir, from the foundation drains. The channel is formed by a 6-inch radius half- round corrugated metal pipe and is installed to intercept flow along the concrete foundation contact surface at the base of the weir. The channel extends the full lengthof the gallery and is connected to the gallery floor by five 2-1/2-inch steel pipes similar to those for the foundation drains but inclined so that the top ends line up with those for the foundation drains. All pipes discharge seepage into the gallery gutter.
