Solicitation VA69D-14-Q-1554 - Notice of Intent to Sole Source reference FAR 6.302-1. The Great Lakes Acquisition Center is procuring the following, for the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center: a. Common Nomenclature (commercial description):Automated Multi-wavelength/Multi-location Acquisition and Analysis System for Nikon Te300 Microscope b. Kind of material (i.e., type, grade, alternatives, etc.):This is an automation upgrade to a Nikon Te300 Microscope c. Electrical Data (i.e., 110 v, 60 Hz, 3 Ph, etc.):All components are 110V and can be plugged into a single power strip on a 15A circuit d. Dimensions, size, capacity:All components will be attached to the Nikon Te300 Microscope or will fit on a 30"x30" table. e. Principles of operation:Automated Software will drive acquisition and analysis of Multi-wavelength / Multi-location images on a Nikon Te300 microscope f.Restrictive environmental conditions:None g. Intended use:To acquire and analyze Multi-wavelength / Multi-location images on a Nikon Te300 microscope for the purpose of scientific research h. Equipment with which the item is used with (N/A if not applicable):Nikon Te300 Microscope i. End item application:Scientific Research j. Other pertinent information that describes the item, material or service required:N/A The Great Lakes Acquisition Center intends to award on a sole source basis, IAW 10 USC 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, a contract to Nikon Instruments, Inc., 1300 Walt Whitman Road, Melville, NY 11747, as the only responsible source to provide the above items. The Nikon Elements powered custom upgrade, an automated multi-wavelength / multi-location acquisition and analysis system upgrade, for the Nikon Te300 Fluorescence Microscope to research outlined in Dr. O'Bryan's funded VA Merit Grant. The sole product that meets the requirement is the Nikon powered custom upgrade, available through the sole vendor, Nikon Instruments, Inc. It has been determined that this is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the above items. The total award amount is estimated to be $43,354.41. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 10USC 2304(c)(1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement. The applicable NAICS Code is 334516 and the size standard is 500 employees. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes. This notice of intent is not a request for quotation or a solicitation of offers. However, all quotes received within three days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement upon receipt of response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. There will be no solicitation available.
