- Description
- Responses to Questions Synopsis: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), intends to compete its requirement for Boarding Pass Scanners (BPS). The BPS is a commercial product that can be deployed rapidly. It is intended to scan airline electronic and paper Boarding Passes, and validate and display vetting results and flight and passenger information. The BPS supplements TSO manual processes, reducing dependency on the TSO to visually inspect boarding passes to verify passenger vetting status. BPS units will be delivered to sites throughout the United States and its territories. Anticipated Milestones: TSA intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) subsequent to this announcement with two distinct submission requirements: (1) a written proposal, and; (2) a fully functional BPS unit to be bailed at no cost to the Government for testing against Functional Requirements Document version 2.0, dated July 27, 2014. The relevant milestones and their anticipated due dates are listed below. Note that these dates are subject to change, and prospective offerors will not be compensated as a result of any changes: RFP Release: August 25, 2014 Questions Due: September 2, 2014 Bailment Agreement Executed: September 10, 2014 Bailment Unit Delivery: September 22, 2014 Written Proposal Due: September 22, 2014 Applicable Documents: TSA has available the BPS Functional Requirements Document (FRD) version 2.0, dated July 27, 2014. Any interested parties should request this document through the points of contact indicated in this announcement. Responses to Questions: TSA is providing responses to questions received from industry as a result of market research conducted in June/July 2014. These responses can be viewed in an attachment to this announcement. Any subsequent questions may be submitted to the points of contact indicated in this announcement. Please note that not all questions received may be answered.
