MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL OR SOLICITATION Part I: General Information (Introduction/Background/Scope) The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting market research to support the National Center for Toxicological (NCTR) Division of Neurotoxicology, Zebrafish Laboratory, Jefferson, AR requirement for an upright microscope system configured specifically for the evaluation of zebrafish embryos/3D samples. The upright microscope will be devoted to visualizing zebrafish embryos in high magnifications and imaging of specific regions (anatomic and morphologic) of the embryos. The camera should be able to capture fluorescent images, and if possible bright field images. There should also be an option for time-lapse imaging with video capture capability. The microscope stage should allow for the incorporation of temperature controlling devices to maintain 28.5o C. This is a sources sought to determine the availability and capability of small businesses to provide an Upright Microscope for Zebrafish Research and equipment maintenance for the equipment. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 333314 Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing, the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. Part II Technical Requirements A. The upright microscope system must be configured specifically for the evaluation of zebrafish embryos/3D samples. Cool illumination (fluorescence and bright-field) sources are required to keep the heat away from the sample but allowing bright enough light to evaluate samples easily. The microscope must provide at least the 4x, 10x, 20x, 40x (water immersion) and 60x (water immersion) objectives. It should also have the DAPI, FITC and TRITC filters and phase-contrast optics. The following features and specifications are required: 1. QUADROCULAR TILTING TUBE 2. 10X EYEPIECE 3. DSC ZOOMING PORT F/QUAD TUBE 4. TUBE ADAPTER F/QUADROCULAR TUBE 5. DIC Sextuple Nosepiece 6. CONDENSER HOLDER 7. UNIVERSAL CONDENSER DRY 8. 2-4X AUXILIARY LENS 9. DAPI, FITC, Texas-Red/RFP filter set 10. 5.5 Megapixel, 30 fps, 11 bit and 16 bit, Monochrome Camera 11. Color camera system 12. 64 bit Imaging workstation supplied with Intel Xeon 3.7GHz quad core processor, 32GB DDR3 RAM, dual 7200RPM SATA drives 13. 24" LED Backlit IPS monitor with height, swivel, and tilt 14. Advanced Research (Multi License): Acquisition and analysis package, includes camera 15. 6D imaging - acquisition module for 6 dimensional imaging, includes time, channel or wavelength and focus, multipoint or multi stage position. B. Deliverables Equipment for evaluation of zebrafish embryos/3D samples meeting technical requirements listed above. C. Service: Full One Year Warranty including parts and labor and four (4) one year option(s) for post warranty preventive and corrective maintenance. D. Delivery Address: Food and Drug Administration National Center for Toxicological (NCTR) Division of Neurotoxicology, Zebrafish Laboratory 3900 NCTR Road Jefferson, AR 72079 Delivery will be expected within 30 days after receipt of order Part III: Instructions to Prospective Respondents Responses to this sources sought shall unequivocally demonstrate that respondent has instruments capable of meeting technical requirements for the intended purposes discussed above. Though the target audience is small businesses capable of providing these items, all interested parties may respond. At a minimum, responses shall include the following: • Business name and bio, DUNS number, business address, business website, business size status (i.e., SB, VOSB, SDVOSB, HUBZone SB, 8(a), SDB, WOSB, EDWOSB, LB), point of contact name, mailing address (if different from business address), phone number and email address; • Past performance information for sales of comparable instruments, used for comparable purposes to include description (technical literature and specifications), dollar value, client name, address, point of contact (POC), POC phone number and email address, and name of the manufacturer (to include DUNS number and size status) if not the respondent; • Descriptive literature, brochures, specifications, marketing material, etc. detailing the nature of products the responding firm is regularly engaged in providing. • If applicable, identification of the firm's GSA Schedule contract(s) by Schedule number and SINs that are applicable to this requirement; • Although this is not a request for quote, informational pricing is encouraged; • The Government encourages any comments and/or suggestions from any interested party regarding this requirement. While the Government will not respond directly to your comments and/or suggestions; we will consider them as we finalize the specifications in preparation for the forthcoming solicitation. The Government is not responsible for locating or securing any information, not identified in the response.
