The new Fayetteville Health Care Center will require 20 stretchers. The same brand and model is required to provide standardization for the following factors: training amongst staff, maintenance standardization and protocol with Biomedical, care for Reusable Medical Equipment, and patient safety. Accordingly, the Stryker Zoom Stretcher is the only product capable of meeting the need without the VAMC Fayetteville experiencing substantial duplication of cost. 6. Description of Efforts Made to ensure that offers are solicited from as many potential sources as deemed practicable: Stryker is the only company that manufactures the motorized Zoom stretchers. American Medical Depot is their exclusive small business distributor. 7. Determination by the Contracting Officer that the Anticipated Cost to the Government will be Fair and Reasonable: The Contracting Officer has determined the price fair and reasonable based on comparison to the vendor's commercial catalog price and price paid on previous contract VA246-12-P-6075. 8.Description of the Market Research Conducted and the Results, or a Statement of the Reasons Market Research Was Not Conducted: Market research was conducted on the web, NAC and government databases. Stryker's current distributor agreement with American Medical Depot has restricted competition under their brand name. 9.Any Other Facts Supporting the Use of Other than Full and Open Competition: See above. 10.Listing of Sources that Expressed, in Writing, an Interest in the Acquisition: Firm 1: American Medical Depot 11.A Statement of the Actions, if any, the Agency May Take to Remove or Overcome any Barriers to Competition before Making subsequent acquisitions for the supplies or services required: Market research will be conducted for subsequent acquisitions to ensure fair and open competition.
