DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION The United States Air Force Installation Contracting Agency's (AFICA) Furnishings Commodity Council is in the process of developing a strategy for procuring unaccompanied housing (dormitory) furnishings. The chosen strategy would provide an enterprise-wide, continental United States (CONUS), excluding Alaska, solution for unaccompanied housing furniture. The Air Force has structured this Request for Information (RFI) to target industry responses on general programmatic questions, manufacturer demographics, product line capabilities as well as feedback on a draft set of testing requirements. The attachments were developed based on analyzing the Air Force's unaccompanied housing furnishings needs, anticipated furnishing demands and current procurement processes. BACKGROUND To aid in the development of the acquisition strategy, the AFICA Furnishings Commodity Council is investigating the capability and capacity of unaccompanied housing furniture manufacturers, furnishing trends, as well as any cost saving opportunities. Currently, the Air Force has 71 CONUS procurement offices buying unaccompanied housing furniture with a historical spend of approximately $12M annually. The current program strategy focuses on two distinct product categories. The first product category is Hard Goods, which currently consists of case good dormitory bedroom furniture (headboards, beds, dressers, desks, etc.) and common area furniture (sofas, loveseats, dining tables, lounge chairs, etc.). The second product category is Soft Goods, which currently consists of bedding, draperies, and mattresses. Presently, the AF plans to award separate contracts for the Hard Goods and Soft Goods categories. This RFI is focused on the Hard Goods product category.
