Introduction: The Bonners Ferry Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests (IPNF) is soliciting fuels treatment to services to improve the health and vigor of the residual stand. Background & Purpose: This contract is for the purpose of treating fuels, improving stand composition and maintaining the long-term health and vigor of the residual stand. The unit to be bid on and treated is within the Haller Down Project Area. 3. Scope of Work: This project is for approximately 180 acres of slashing in Unit 48 in the Haller Down project. The Slashing and Bucking specifications for the unit are as follows: Unit 48 (180 acres total): Cut all live, standing vegetation, between 1 inch DBH and 7 inches DBH that is greater than 2 feet in height. Completely separate from the stump with the stump height not to exceed 6 inches. Once cut, ensure that at least 70% of the cut vegetation's stem is within 1 foot of the ground; bucking and/or limbing may be required to ensure this specification is achieved. Slashing shall be accomplished throughout the entire unit and will include hardwood and conifer vegetation (excluding aspen and any birch species, which will be left). In addition, buck all material pre-existing and slashing created into 10-12 foot lengths. The estimated start date is 08/18/2014 and shall be completed by 11/14/2014 Quotes are due: 08/06/2014
