The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 8), James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, Tampa, FL is intending on executing a sole source contract to Ebsco Industries, 10 Estes Street, Ipswich, MA 01938 for the following publishing package subscriptions: A.ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials This database combines the premier indexing from ATLA Religion Database with access to ATLA's online full-text collection of major religion and theology journals. Produced by the American Theological Library Association (ATLA), coverage in this database begins in 1908, with indexing for some journal titles extending back into the nineteenth century. Full text is provided for articles and reviews from more than 230 journals selected by leading religion scholars. B.EBSCO Discovery Service Core collection of locally-indexed metadata that serves as the foundation of EBSCO's Complete Discovery Solution. EBSCO's Complete Discovery Solution provides access to an institution's entire collection via a single, customizable entry point. This is accomplished through a combination of key elements including: "EBSCO Discovery Service - The Core Collection of Locally-Indexed Metadata "EBSCOhost Integrated Search - Extending the Reach of the Discovery Solution by Incorporating External Resources "EBSCO A to Z ® - Institutional Web-Based Resource Locator Tool "EBSCO LinkSource ® - Powerful Item-Level Linking Solution Access More Content Faster: By creating a unified index of an institution's information resources, EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) is able to provide users with an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content through a single search. This is achieved by harvesting metadata from both internal (library) and external (database vendors) sources, and creating a pre-indexed service of unprecedented size and speed. Although the resulting collection can be massive in size and scope, the fact that it is indexed locally (on the EBSCOhost ® servers) allows for exceptionally fast search response times. As no two institutions are the same, EBSCO Discovery Service offers a vast array of customization options with regard to both the underlying collection of metadata as well as the front-end delivery of search results. All of this functionality is based upon the powerful EBSCOhost search experience familiar to researchers worldwide. Unparalleled Depth of Indexing and Potential for Expansion EBSCO Discovery Service will enable users to search a wide-ranging collection of metadata and link quickly to the content to which they have rights. EBSCO Discovery Service provides much deeper indexing than any other discovery solution, including author-supplied abstracts, keywords, and affiliations for many of the titles included. Overall, the service includes searchable metadata associated with tens of thousands of journals, magazines, books and other sources, and additional resources/databases from other information partners - bringing together more content partners than any other Discovery service. Furthermore, for customers subscribing to other EBSCOhost database, the Discovery experience becomes supremely deep and comprehensive as these resources can vastly expand access to content for the researcher. As a result of the combination of these resources, this will be the world's highest quality, most comprehensive discovery experience for journals, magazines, books and other sources. Customized Search Experience Taking customization to a new level, EBSCO Discovery Service will provide the features, functionality and power of EBSCOhost within a customizable framework. Libraries can customize the discovery/search experience through use of a wide variety of open integration options including: "Web Services Integration "Harvestable Content "Persistent Links, RSS Feeds, and other Bookmarkable Content "Skinnable Interface Design (colors, logos, etc.) "A variety of content "widgets" derived from the powerful EBSCOhost technology Biomedical Reference Collection: Comprehensive Provides access to nearly 900 full text journals, including full text for nearly 850 peer-reviewed publications. Disciplines covered include: clinical medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the pre-clinical sciences. Journals available in full text in Biomedical Reference Collection: Comprehensive Edition are indexed in MEDLINE. DynaMed Clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use at the point-of-care. With clinically-organized summaries for more than 3,200 topics, DynaMed provides the latest content and resources with validity, relevance and convenience, making DynaMed an indispensable resource for answering most clinical questions during practice. Updated daily, DynaMed editors monitor the content of over 500 medical journals on a daily basis. Each article is evaluated for clinical relevance and scientific validity. The new evidence is then integrated with existing content, and overall conclusions are changed as appropriate, representing a synthesis of the best available evidence. Through this process of Systematic Literature Surveillance, the best available evidence determines the content of DynaMed. Health Business Elite This database provides comprehensive journal content detailing all aspects of health care administration and other non-clinical aspects of health care institution management. Topics covered include Hospital Management, Hospital Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, Computer Technology, Facilities Management and Insurance. Health Business Elite contains full-text content for over 600 journals such as H&HN: Hospitals & Health Networks, Harvard Business Review (available back to 1922), Health Facilities Management, Health Management Technology, Healthcare Financial Management, Marketing Health Services, Modern Healthcare and many more. Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive This database contains nearly 400 full text journals that are indexed in CINAHL, including nearly 300 peer-reviewed titles covering the areas of nursing, biomedicine, health sciences, consumer health and allied health disciplines. Although Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive can be searched separately, it is more effectively used when you search CINAHL and connect to the article by clicking on the links in the citation record. Nursing Reference Center The premier evidence-based information resource designed specifically for nurses. With Nursing Reference Center, nurses can get answers to questions quickly, strengthen their nursing skills, and read full-text journal articles anytime, and anywhere. Reference Material for the Point-of-Care Nursing Reference Center provides nurses with evidence-based resources that they can access for quick reference at the point-of-care including: "Quick Lessons providing disease and condition overviews that map to the nursing workflow "Evidence-Based Care Sheets providing summaries of what is known about a disease or condition and the best treatment options "Nursing Cultural Competencies providing information on how to treat patients from diverse cultures "Patient education handouts "Point-of-care drug information Continuing Education for Nurses NRC provides continuing educational modules containing course material, an interactive review, a module evaluation and a competency test with a certificate of completion.
