- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Cyclotron Facility Service for Accelerated Proton Beam Time. The contractor shall expose the provided sediment samples in glass vessels to 200 MeV protons at a dose rate of at least 3.8 Gy/s for the sediments (of 1.73 g/cm3 density) over an 8-cm diameter beam spot. The proton beam shall be applied incrementally for a total dose of up to 0.5x106 Gy. In addition 6 hr sample exposure at a dose rate of 1.9Gy/s for a 2-cm diameter beam spot is required. The contractor shall provide a data file that contains energy, dose, flux, fluence, spot size, and other pertinent beam parameters. The contractor shall contact the customer with progress reports on the status of the sample exposures via email. The contractor shall store samples until they are radioactively cool enough to ship to the customer in accordance with federal law. The contractor will return the exposed samples to the customer via the GSFC radiation safety officer. Delivery Schedule Irradiated samples and associated data files shall be delivered by Oct 31, 2015. Government-Furnished Equipment and Government-Furnished Information - none. Place of Performance The work will be performed at the contractors site. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.g ov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=.The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than July 21,2014.
