Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates award of a sole source, firm-fixed-price purchase order to Accelerate Diagnostics, 3950 South Country Club, Suite 470, Tucson, AZ 85714, for an A01 Accelerate ID/AST System (1 Mod) - RUO. The Accelerate ID/AST instrument automatically exchanges test solutions, acquires time-lapse images and applies sophisticated image analysis to measure the responses of each individually identified microbial cell. It applies expert rule sets to interpret data and report results in standard clinical terminology. Core components include: Accelerate Diagnostics CassetteDisposable analyzer cassette and reagent source plate kit. The cassette has 48 independent flowcell channels, wherein fluid exchanges provide different test conditions, exposing the captured cells to different test solutions. The flowcell is the central element in the Accelerate ID/AST system. It is a hollow channel that guides flow from an inlet port, through the channel, into an outlet port. It has transparent top and bottom covers so the microscope can view its inner surfaces. Microbial cells from a sample attach inside the bottom cover. Fluid exchanges provide different test conditions, exposing the captured cells to different test solutions. Accelerate Diagnostics CassetteAutomated fluidics. A computer-controlled micropipetting robot exchanges reagents according to program. 300x450Automated, time-lapse microscopy. A computer-controlled microscope is the heart of the instrument. It scans the cassette, changes imaging modes, and acquires digital images according to program. Time-lapse imaging of ceftazidime-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. VideoAutomated image analysis. Highly sophisticated, proprietary image analysis software provides state-of-the-art cell tracking and measurement of each cell’s responses to different tests. Tracking each cell at all times, it measures changes in growth rates, shapes, and other properties that indicate the effects of different tests. It finishes by constructing a statistical profile of each sub-population of cells and interpreting results using expert rules. Completes single-cell microbiology analysis, direct from specimen without prior culturing and colony isolation. ID available in 1 hour, AST within 5 hours. The system automates all process steps once sample is inserted into standard cassette. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any response should be emailed to the purchasing agent at lml3@cdc.gov by 4:30 p.m. EDT, July 22, 2014. PLEASE NOTE: This requirement is subject to availability of funds.
