Sources Sought: Notice to interested parties - this posting is a request for information only and does not constitute a formal request for proposal from Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC. Background: The Pantex Plant, located 17 miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas, is charged with securing America by providing the nation's nuclear deterrent. The facility is managed and operated by Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS) for the United States Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). The Pantex Plant supports four core missions: 1) National Security, 2) Nuclear Explosive Operations, 3) Nuclear Material Operations, and 4) High Explosive Operations. Daily operations involve work with nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship, plutonium pit storage, high explosives work, engineering, safety, security, facilities management, quality, environmental protection, and general administration. For purposes of achieving core mission objectives and in managing the Pantex Plant, CNS relies heavily on the usage of outside subcontractors and suppliers to provide necessary support services to Plant operations. Introduction: Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS) is seeking ASME NQA-1 2008/2009 qualified companies for installing a backbone Fiber Optic Network to support system reporting of safety systems. Project Requirements: The design for a new stand-alone, single-mode fiber network is nearing completion. This network will connect fire alarm system patch panels at various locations to the Fire Alarm Receiving System (FARS) and Real-Time Air Monitoring Systems (RAMS) from patch panels at various locations to its network hardware also at pre-defined locations. The network will be installed in hallways with varied security requirements. The vendor will install the network in accordance with the design, complete with all equipment as specified for a functional system that provides communications between its components. The network will stretch about 2 miles with multiple fiber optic cables in shared conduits. The project is designated as an NQA-1 project. Anticipated Period of It is expected that field installation, testing and turnover will be completed approximately 6 months after receipt of Notice of Award.
