- Description
- Question & Answers 6/26/2014 1 - Would be acceptable to use one of the OPEN expansion slots to add the 2nd COMport >> It would be sufficient to use cover one of the slots with a header cable for a COM port or two BUT the COM ports must come on the motherboard and be connected via cable headers off of the motherboard. We do not want to have any more expansion cards than necessary. There are plenty of motherboards that can provide enough on-board headers. 2 - Please clarify: Does end user want 2 ports (1 keyboard, 1 mouse) or will a single combo port suffice? >> P/S 2 ports for both keyboard and mouse so that you can hook one of each up if necessary. A single combo port will not suffice. ***Change in the Motherboard: Previous P/N: ASUS P8H77-V LE. New P/N:Jetway JNAF93-Q77*** 3-I was looking into the motherboards and found they have LGA 1155 sockets. My problem is the available processors that are not at end of life require LGA 1150 sockets. Are you seeking older processors for this solicitation? >> We are primarily seeking hardware compatibility as these systems will be required to be used as spares for existing systems using one of the two motherboards specified in the RFQ. A drive from built for one of those computers MUST be able to be swapped into these computers, boot the OS (RHEL) and operate with minimal configuration changes (MAC address of Ethernet ports, etc). It can't kernel panic or fail to boot in some other manner. >> To facilitate this, our preference would be to use one of the two motherboards specified with a compatible processor. While some of the 1155 processors are EOL, not all are (3rd gen are still being produced AFAIK). If we can't get that exact motherboard and have to go to a different one, we may ask to purchase one unit first to validate its hardware compatibility before purchasing the rest of the lot.
