- Description
- This file link is on my desktop and contains Questions and Answers re 2014-N-61447 1. Could you please issue the RFP as a PDF or other formatted file? The recently posted clarification PDF solicitation is for 214-N-15808, not for 2014-N-1644. (I reposted in a different way so that it could easily be read. 2. Task 6 in year 1 is described as Consolidation, Quarantining, and/or Disposal of Specimens. We price these tasks differently. May we present pricing for consolidation, quarantining, and disposal as separate lines? Yes. 3. What types of labels are on the existing repository samples? Are all the samples barcoded? Have you had difficulties with labels falling off of the current vials? The bar code labels are heat sealed and have the NHANES Sample ID on them. No label has ever fallen off. 4. During the initial inventory and consolidation, do the samples need to be arranged in specific groups or in a specific order, or can the samples simply be consolidated for the most efficient use of freezer space? Samples can be consolidated for the most efficient use of freezer space. 5. What types and sizes of primary containers are the current samples in (examples: 2 mL cryovials, 50 mL conical tubes)? What types and sizes of primary containers are planned for the new specimens acquired from sites? The samples are in 2ml cryovials. All samples are 2ml cyrovials that come in 9x9 containers. 6. Will new repository samples arrive frozen and labeled or is sample processing to isolate specimen derivatives needed prior to storage? If processing is needed, please describe it. All samples arrive frozen and labeled. No processing is needed. 7. How many samples arrive in a typical sample shipment? How often do shipments arrive? Are shipments expected to arrive on Saturdays? Hundreds to several thousand. Samples arrive at an agreed upon time between the contractor and the Project officer therefore they almost never arrive on Saturday. 8. Are the 16 current NHANES freezers upright or chest models? Can you provide a list of the existing freezers (make and model) which will be transferred as part of this contract? Can you provide the ages of the current freezers? Most are upright, although there may be one or two chest models. Future freezers purchased are likely to be upright. Make and Model may not always be the same so long as the temperature can be maintained as necessary and store up to 29 cubic feet of samples. The CDC will procure and delivery to vendor freezers if necessary. 9. Are any of the current 16 freezers backup units or are they all used for primary storage? If any backup units are included, how many are there? All units are used for primary storage. Additional freezers may be purchased if necessary.
