- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates award of a sole source, firm-fixed-price purchase order to Agilent Technologies, Inc., 2850 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE 19808-1610 for purchase of an Agilent TapeStation Nucleic Acid System for the analysis of DNA, RNA, and protein by proprietary small-scale gel electrophoresis. Fully integrated unit comprises automated Agilent 220 TapeStation instrument and pre-packaged, read-to-use Agilent ScreenTape consumables. The system provides scalable throughput via ready-to-use Agilent ScreenTape consumable consisting of 16 individual lanes, the individual nature of which means that partially used ScreenTape can be retained for future use to avoid waste and allow constant cost per analysis regardless of throughput. It is also compatible with 8-way tube strips or 96-well plates. The pre-packaged nature means no set up, conditioning, priming, cleaning, or lengthy temperature equilibration periods are required. Analysis takes place in about one minute. Data analysis is accelerated as the instrument software is automatically launched with sizing, quantity, and quality information automatically presented depending on the application. Sample evaporation is eliminated on 96-well plates due to supplied piercable fill covers. Only 1 ul or 2 ul of sample is required (2 ul for higher sensitivity applications). Switching between DNA/ RNA, and protein applications accomplished by just swapping ScreenTape, e.g. D1K for P2000 ScreenTape and sample plate, or sample vials. Analysis of mammalian whole RNA on Agilent ScreenTape R6K and High Sensitivity R6K provides an RIN equivalent RNA quality metric called RINe, which has been validated for full RIN equivalence. Zero carryover is provided by the instrument which utilizes individual loading tips for each sample which are analyzed on individual lanes on ScreenTape. The unit also has a small footprint, 400x210x210mm (15.7”x12.2”x12.2”), which conforms to available laboratory space. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all responses received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any response should be emailed to the purchasing agent at lml3@cdc.gov by 4:30 p.m. EDT, June 18, 2014.
