- J.4 J.3 J.2 This research project shall start with a review of the current state-of-practice for the selection, design, installation, and load testing of large-diameter open end piles (LDOEPs) used within the transportation system. The Contractor shall also assemble a load test database and use it to evaluate existing static analysis methods and recommend tools for estimating the short and long-term capacity of LDOEPs. In addition, the Contractor shall investigate the use of dynamic formulae, wave equation predictions, and dynamic testing with signal matching to evaluate bearing resistance of LDOEPs, specifically focusing on steel pipes and concrete cylinders, during installation and testing, compare to static load test results, and provide any recommended alternatives. Calibration of the method(s) would be performed within the load and resistance design (LRFD) format. Finally, practice-ready technical guidance on predicting and verifying capacity during design, installation, and testing of LDOEPs would also be developed. Full and Open Competition to procure the services of an Offeror for bearing resistance of large diameter open-end piles services.
