Description
This update is in reference to the three test solutions provided by NOAA: (1) PAHs (2) PCBs (3) fatty acid methyl esters The intention of the required analyses of these three test solutions is not to test or optimize the chromatographic performances of different capillary columns that are routinely used in the chemistry laboratories. NOAA recognizes that the compounds in these test solutions generally co-elute on many capillary GC columns. The vendors are not expected or required to go beyond the normal analyses or make any additional purchases of longer capillary columns to achieve the resolution of these co-eluting compounds. The intention of the analyses of these co-eluting mixtures is to determine if there are any mass spectrometric techniques available that would allow the resolution of structurally similar co-eluting compounds. NOAA recognizes that such features are possibly available only for some high-end, research-grade mass spectrometers, and therefore, the analyses of co-eluting compounds would have lower percentage ratings in the procurement evaluation process. Should a mass spectrometer not have the particular feature to resolve the structurally similar compounds based on mass spectrometric principles, the analyses may be limited to demonstrating the sensitivity requirement of 1 ppb per microliter injection, and reporting the coeluting compounds as one peak containing a mixture of two compounds. This modification extends the RFQ closing from June 17 to June 27, 2014.
