- Hall Barn Painting and Repair Solicitation GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Work is to be performed on an existing barn structure, which is the home of a large colony of brown bats from June through September. Provide equipment, labor, and materials to paint all exterior surfaces, including under the eaves and provide other repairs as noted. Two coats of paint shall be applied. Protect the honey bee hive in the east wall near the lower window on the southern end of that wall. Insecticides may be used on other bees, yellow jackets, wasps, etc. Protect bird's nests containing eggs or young birds. Either scaffolding or mechanical lifts may be used to access the upper barn areas. Note that the ground surrounding the barn is uneven. Condition of the existing structure is hazardous. The first floor has some weak flooring, loose boards, and open areas. Much of the area has scattered debris, old manure, and bat guano. Care should be taken when entering the barn and surrounding area. Work hours for this project may be Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. No night work is allowed. Repairs to the roof ridge shall be completed after August 1st. The Contractor shall be responsible for any and all damage to persons or property that occurs as a result of the Contractor's fault or negligence. The Contractor shall also be responsible for all materials delivered and work performed until completion and acceptance of the entire work, except for any completed unit of work which may have been accepted under the contract. Davis Bacon wage rates apply to the on-site construction phase of this project. Time of performance shall be: 75 days The Government may occupy the site during construction and require use of the area. The public is invited for wildlife viewing outside the fenced area. Coordinate with the Government's representatives during construction operations to minimize conflicts and facilitate usage.
