Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate and award a contract to procure a Fibroscan 502 Touch with M+ Probe with extended warranty, maintenance/support and training from Sandhill Scientific, Inc., 8955 South Ridgeline Blvd., Suite 500, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126. The Fibroscan, equipment based on new proprietary technology, is used in the clinical management of patients with liver disease to determine the degree of fibrosis and provide a noninvasive assessment of chronic liver disease. The FDA approved the use of Fibroscan in the US in April 2013 although it has been used in other parts of the world since 2003. The contractor shall provide all labor, material, delivery, installation, training and warranty for the Fibroscan 502 Tough with M+ Probe. The solicitation will be released on a sole source basis to Sandhill Scientific, Inc., the only known US distributor for the Fibroscan. The applicable NAICS code is 334510. The FSC/PSC is 6515. The authority for this action is FAR 6.302.1-1 Only One Responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation will be posted to this site. Parties may identify their interest, accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contract Specialist no later than 3:00pm EST on 6/6/2014. Responses should be sent to Valerie.DeAngelis@va.gov. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
